These are aome tips I've been given over the last few years, I don't do any as I'm not sure if they are true or false - please help!
1) Don't give tomato or cucumber seeds as they can grow in the tortoise due to their slow metabolism.
2) Pak choi & parsley is the best things they can eat.
3)No need to hibernate if they are kept indoors as the central heating ensures a constant temp through winter & summer so they don't hibernate a they don't get any colder.
4) Should be given small amounts of white fish, cheese, pasta & branflakes to help keep the shell hard.
Any ideas xxxxxxxx

1) FALSE - but why you would feed them these seeds anyway i dont know
2) FALSE - they are not THE BEST thing they can eat
3) FALSE - if anything tortoises kept indoors are the ones most in need of hibernation. No matter what temperature they are kept at they will ALWAYS slow down in the winter and it is always necessary to hibernate them if you wish them good health ( species dependant)
4)FALSE - please tell me no one feeds their tort cheese x(

oh god where did this info come from. False to all of the above i agree.

Just think what a tort would be like in the wild in regards to hibernation. Even the hatchlings hibernate so its best to try and meet the needs as they would be in the wild as much as possible :)

Thanks for replying, that is what I thought.
1 & 2 were told to me by a north east toroise association lady, 3 was from my local vet! & 4 was from my tortoise book, which also lists all friuts & veg.
These are all sources whose advice I should've be able to follow without question, just shows how easy it is to get it wrong.
