Hi there

I am going to take pictures of my 18 months baby tortoises (shell, plastron, head), so that I have detailed records of their individual characteristics, just in case i need them in the future.

I assume that the black marks on the plastron and shell will stay the same as they grow i.e the marks will get bigger but stay the exact same shape? Please can you confirm?

Thank you

Sabina

They will stay vaguely the same, but often you will see lighter patches darkening, so the overall pattern will change if this happens. Plastron shots are accepted by some people as ID, but then again this can change slightly too. The change is not so obvious as in Testudo graeca species, but small changes can happen. Hope this helps.
