This mentions Stuart McArthur and treatment but not the advice of running with males as is often the case with veterinarians (and many doctors) ie not looking at the whole picture

It’s something that my vet mentioned to me many years back and which I have seen mentioned since several times, so I’m surprised that it’s not well known in Germany, which is often more advanced in care of chelonians. I’m thinking that Stuart McArthur has done research into this matter but could be wrong. I will check now.
