Elderly Hermanni Boettgeri Egg Problems

08 May 2021 - 02:28 PM

Occasionally there are problems with egg laying. If conditions are optimum then there are rarely any problems, but with very elderly torts and sometimes very young ones, things can go wrong. Last weekend I came home to find this. Luckily having had problems with old Herbie before I suspected her. Vet confirmed she still had three eggs and induced her which actually produced 4 more (one with no shell, not visible on X-ray). Never a dull moment.

Young Hermanni Boettgeri Tortoises Available

10 April 2021 - 03:44 PM

I have a few hermanni babies available for sale to the right homes. Last year was my last year incubating the eggs (unless DEFRA stop importing from the EU). These little ones were hatched July last year and ready to go providing new owners have the correct setups. They are £90 or £160 for two. All have DEFRA certification, care sheets and after sales help for as long as you need it. They are presently Shropshire/Welsh Border, but I am willing to travel for the right homes.

Naturalistic keeping important, no tables, vivs etc. Geri is from a loving home and has not been exposed to other tortoises since hatching. No health issues. Photos on application. Hatchling cert available. Owner happy to travel within reason from Shropshire/Welsh borders, Welshpool area.

Happy 2021

All the warm sunshine in this unlikely hibernation pit brought Lola out to see what was going on yesterday. With no intention of going back and a desire to explore the garden, she had a quick nibble and a bath and joined the pile of leaves in the greenhouse to await her friends emerging. Much earlier than usual, but the spot was extremely sheltered and a mid day sun trap. Had I known where she was Id have kept the area covered a while longer.
