My tortoises have just gone out into their summer enclosure this past month but their growth lines seem to suggest really fast growth with so much access to weeds! Is this ok?? It hasn't been so prominent in past years and I know slow growth is encouraged!

Don’t worry too much, so long as you’re not supplementing with too much picked stuff. At this time of year even wild tortoises will have a growth line, but as the summer goes on it lessens. Keep an eye on weights and outdoors you’re likely to see it even out. Make sure there’s a lot of moist substrate in any hide areas to encourage good smooth growth ;)

Ok thank you for the reassurance! These are my first tortoises and because there aren't really any ways they can tell you they are happy, I fixate on their shells a little and then end up panicking! My girls are quite good at keeping their enclosure moist as they have water squirter fights and the tortoises love it as they run out and shower in any water that comes their way
