I have a question,
what is the age or size, that male or female Hermann's tortoises reach sexual maturity, in other words, ready to breed.

My female is 13cm, and male is 12cm.

Thank you.

Well actually it depends quite a lot on size rather than age, but I wouldn't advise under 10 years for females! I think in males age/size is less important.
I am led to believe (by our vet) that if a male tortoise is to young he would be firing blanks anyway!

As Lisa says it goes more on size than age. My female hermanns started laying when she was 7, sadly she is fairly deformed, because of a poor diet when she was younger. The average age is around 10-15 years. Hermanns can start laying from 150mm onwards, but if they are grown fast to attain this size quickly then problems can occur. Lisa is also right that too young a male could be firing blanks. I have a young male hermanns who is 3 and he will mate the older females given the chance, but it never comes to anything.

Andrew, on another site, you have agreed with someone that your tortoise is only 3 years old and impossible to breed from at that age.
Does posting on this site mean that it has aged a few years.
You know that it is impossible for it to be gravid at that age and if your vet has agreed to x ray it to check for eggs then a new vet may be in order.
