Galapagos tortoise webcam

Here's a link to the Galapagos tortoise exhibit thats at the American Museum of Natural History in NYC. It's part of a traveling Darwin exhibit.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 04-01-06 AT 06:07 PM (GMT)]We have just got a small group of 5yr old galapagos tortoise's at work there in quarantine at the moment but when they have finished it i will post some pics, they are the only galapagos in the uk they came from a german zoo and are part of a captive breeding programe

How big are 5 year olds?

quite big actually i would say the size of a adult redfoot between 14-17 inches in length , should be on public view by late spring

No problem just wondered how you new ,thought you must be a member or had a partner that worked there great zoo so much going on now new exhibits coming on great everywhere, what torts do you keep

I know its great Ive visted loads of zoos around the country and chester is still one of my favourites and I usually make a visit each month. I currently only keep Hermanns but hope to get either Red foots or Yellow foots this year.

let me now when you visit again i will meet up with you we can talk tortoise i have all three of those speices you will be pushed to get yellowfoots not many avialable some hatchlings about might even be able to get you a peek at the galapagos

I am only 14 so it all depends when i can get a lift to the zoo. I am looking at the yellow foots from dc tortoises.

Does this tortoise really exist?? Has anyone seen it?? Everytime I click on it its shut or its an empty enclosure. Perhaps it is camera shy!!!

They really exist Kirsty. I've seen both of them about 4 days ago. They seem to hang by the door to the exhibit, not on the cam, waiting to be feed.

I think Linton Zoo has galapagos torts. They are part of the breeding programme.
