Just thought I would let you all know my 10 year old Horsefied finally eat two dandelion leaves last night. I tried him first hiding one under a piece of carrot, which he ate. Then tried dandelion on its own, (which I have done so many times) but this time he ate it and then another!!!! I feel like I've won the lottery!!! He's realised chips and biscuits are off the menu!!

So big thank you to you all for telling me to persevere and be tough on him, its taken weeks but he's done it.
Thank you also to Darren (p1glet) for the advice and magic potion it certainly stimulated his appetite!!:9

Hi Darren I bought him on the 19 February so he was into his 6th week of hardly eating. After the third week I gave in and gave him tiny bit of bread and stuffed weed in it, just to see if he could eat. Another week he ate little bit of carrot and tomato (on advice from here to try and get him eating).
So last night was a real break through, I persisted in only giving him weeds. Over this time he has lost 9grm and only done three poo's!
Hopefully things are looking up. It sounds as though your torty is too, hope they both continue eating!!!

Viv

Hi Darren, yes he is still eating up to about 5/6 a night, but only if hand fed, still I'm grateful for small mercies!!!
Going away tho for 3 weeks, got to teach hubby how to feed them and show him what weeds look like LOL!! So we probably be back to square one when I get back!!
How is yours getting on, is he eating more now?

Viv
