Can anyone tell me whats the best thing to feed a tortoise

I have two horsefields at the age of 2 years, for the last year they have had a mixture of salad, and veg. now i'm told that salad food such as tomatos peppers etc is not good for them? though they love peppers, lambs lettuce and watercress

I know illness on these animals is slow so i don't want to feel i'm hurting them so what can i feed them that is healthy and mind resting for me

No fruit or veg just weeds with a sprinkle of nutrabol (calcium)
There is a great weed mix that you can buy on www.tlady.clara there is also a list of suitable plants/weeds for tortoises on there.
Feed them the same amount as their shell size.
Hope this helps!

Hi Smokey,

Here are two sites with good food lists for tortoises (and the other information there is good too - the tortoisehouse site has a section specifically on horsfields):
