do tortoises need some shallow water to swim in

you need to be a bit more patient waiting for your answers. sometimes it can take several hours to get a reply.This is a forum - it isnt like a chat room where you get instant reply.
Im only a beginner here myself. Tortoises need a shallow dish of water to drink but they cannot swim so it should be shallow.
ie they can walk in and out without being submersed.

Yes they do although shallow enough so as not to drown.
Just to cover the underside and they can reach down and have a drink if desired?
Also add a few pebbles large enough for them to right themselves if they fall.
Pebbles can make the water evapourate if to many so keep an eye
