Hi Oz, the little guy in the picture has room for a pony!
I am on the verge of making a decision about outdoor enclosures.... finally!
I have emailed a couple of people re plexiglass but as yet have had no replies, could you let me know the details of your supplier please?
Many thanks,

Paula x

Hi Oz

Looks great - can I ask what the height of your coldframe is and what wattage bulb /type etc please? I just wondered what headroom I need so that I can put heat in mine.

Thanks Pat x

Do you find they tend to use the whole enclosure or just their favourite part of it

Hi people, sorry about the delay I didn't notice this thread got active again.

Its quite an unusual coldframe and it was very dificult to get and also cost a lot of money. Really I got it instead of a greenhouse and looked at that way its good value because it is UV transmitting and very well designed and made, but it does cost the same as a greenhouse. Most coldframes are a lot less expensive.

I use a halogen lamp in there which is on a dimming thermostat. As a result, it cannot overheat and the height is not a big issue. I wouldn't use a combined heat and UV lamp in there because the temperature would not be controlled.

The tortoises do like it in there but they do go outside as well, when they think its warm enough. Or if they want to eat. I don't feed them in the coldframe and they know where the food plants are!

Hi folks. Yes the coldframe in the photo is a lot of cash. Approx £800. If you look at the chelonium site you will see that I've got the cheapest model!!! :P  I've got a small garden so I greenhouse was not the best option for me and this coldframe does have super heat keeping abilities which really counts up here. We need every drop of UV and every degree of heat we can get!Posted Image
