Hi all, sorry if this has been asked before.

Does a tortoise come in to season like a dog?

After mating how soon in the ideal world could a female tortoise lay eggs?

Last one, How long can female tortoise retain sperm for?

Just some thing I would like to get straight in my own mind.

Not as far as I know, but males will mate all year, but tortoises generally lay eggs from when they get up from hibernation, up until Julyish. This is for tortoises that hibernate. If they are not hibernated then it can be any time of the year.

I can only speak for my tortoises, if they have mated in the Autumn then they should lay eggs in the Spring. And can lay a second clutch (as mine have done this year) around a month later.

Well I know that tortoises can retain sperm for up to three years, not sure beyond that.
