Hi guys! This forum is so good, full of great information for us newbies!! I am getting a tortoise at the end of Sep so need to start getting things ready. Was planning to make a table for inside out of wood, but does it need to be waterproof/ed? What wood is suitable to use? Also do people suggest separate uv and basking lamps or the combined type?
Many thanks
Jo

Hi Jo,
I am no DIY expert but my dad is and he recommends using white deal wood. Also, seal it with timber sealer. With regard to combined or separate uv and basking lamps both have their own advantages and disadvantages so either will do. Hope this info helps. Best of luck Jo. ;)
Kind Regards

Hi, an old bookcase is your cheapest option, and then you could line it with thick polythene attached to the inside.
I also use a combi bulb Mega ray, expensive to buy but well worth the money, cheaper to run.

Thanks guys! Think initially I will just get a guinea pig cage and take the top off. Much easier to clean! Then when he or she needs something bigger I can build one!
