As most of you know, i picked up TANK the tortoise i was given from the pet shop as they found him in a field.

Anyway, he seems to be loving his new enclosure, although as hes marching around exploring, hes making a strange clicking sound.

My other torts dont do this, atleast ive never heard them.

Is it normal behaviour or is he just excited, anxious or stressed?

Ive tried not to handle him as much as i can so he can settle. Only handling him to bath him and once when he fell on his back.

Any advice would be great

Thanks Sam smile.gif

Hi Sam,

One of mine makes a sort of clicking/creaking noise sometimes, usually after a bath or drink. Keep an eye on him and make sure his nose is dry and that he breathes with his mouth closed. RNS is something torts can suffer from (runny nose syndrome) and would need a trip to the vet for antibiotics if it were the case. Hopefully Tank's clicking will just be what makes him special. smile.gif

Sometimes it can be just a clicky jaw, but as has been said keep a close eye on breathing and nose and eyes :0)
