Hello.
I am new to this forum. I have a 3month old Hermann. I have been a guest for some time and have been reading peoples comments about housing and general upkeep.
However, I have never seen an actual 'list' of OK food they can eat.

Can anyone provide me with a list of plants/food which are suitable.

Thankyou
MickyTort.

Hi Micky

Welcome to the forum. If you have a look at the caresheets list above there is a list of foods on there.
Another good site is the tortoise table.

Hi Micky Tort,

Welcome to the forum. biggrin.gif And to posting! tongue.gif

In our main sections we have a plant section, this shows weeds that have been ID'd and whether they are suitable torty food. Other lists in that section show edible/not edible plants available from gardens and garden centres.
The site Robert suggested is also very good.
What are you feeding your little chap at the moment? At this early stage in his life it is vital to get things right for him. He can then enjoy a lifetime of handsome smooth shell! biggrin.gif
Do you weigh him regularly? This is a good indicator of how things are going. You should be aiming for slow growth of 2-3g per month.
We are a friendly bunch that are more than happy to help you get things right for the little fella. There is so much to learn and it is good that we can use the forum to share info.

I am feeding it cress, dandelions and clovers atm.
I also have a cuttlefish for Neville to take in calcium when he chooses.

Which is best.. Nutrabol or Reptavite?

I cannot seem to find the plants section for food.. but only a discussion of copyrights. dry.gif

I just need a list of OK weeds/plants to feed my Tort.

Thanks for the replies! biggrin.gif

Hi Micky,
At the top of this section does it say tortoise subforums and have around 5 headings?
If you click on the words tortoise forum just under the log in it should drop down more sections?

I didn't see anythng to disagree with on that page from Jacquis.

At the moment I can still get the foods below from my garden although its going downhill rapidly now!
Dandellion
Clover
Vetches
Cats Ear
Narrow plantain
Sedum Spectabile
Sedum Album
Hawksbeards
Hawksweeds
Campanula
Sow Thistle (almost gone now)
Red Valerian

All these and many more plants are still there at the moment but it gets less and less now. At times I will resort to some shop foods including raddiccio, romanine lettuce, lambs lettuce, endive, frisee, pak choi and squash. But not much at all just yet.
