Hi Michele,

I don't have much experience myself this being my little guys only 2nd hibernation, but Bailey still had his eyes open when he went in, once he had been in for a while and had cooled down more he tucked his head in and went to sleep. The other two have their eyes closed but little snitches still on show.

Best of luck with Pebbles!!

:D :D HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL

do you really put them in the fridge? i thought that was just a myth!

is this just to encourage them to start the big shleep?
Just trynna get the hands up for next year when im hoping my pain in the bum will Hibernate!

so.... you slow them down buy decreasing their heat and light, and when they are so slow and off food for a couple of weeks... you refrigerate them?!?! and then take them out and out in a box for the long rest of their shleep?

ok, prob not the entire process and will look more into next year but is that the main gist?

Hi D,
You will find a useful guide to hibernation using the fridge method by clicking on the 'Hibernation' link at the top of your screen. Hope this helps. ;)
Kind Regards
Freddy :D

Hi D,

nearly right with the gist.. :)

Stop feeding, reduce heat and light over 4 weeks, pop in the fridge for 8ish weeks, get up in spring!! Happy tort!!

But then you've plenty of time to read up for next year and we shall all be happy to help!!

I think she will settle well in the fridge. I find this with mine too.
