useing a viv

hi all. i have a large 4ft viv and was wondering could i use this for a baby tort, i know it will need bigger as it grows, but thought i could start it off in the viv. am planning on taking the glass out and using some kind of mesh, would this work :unsure:

I think everyones opinion on vivs differ :unsure: I Think If you can get the temps needed (hot end/ cool end) and the tort can't see out of it (as this can stress them) I can't see it being a problem as a temporary thing.
I think another downside woud be how high the side of the vivs are as torts do like a deep substertute to dig down to regulate their body temps.
It would also obviously depend on the size of tort and viv as they do like to wander.

Hi There,
One of the main problems with vivs is poor air-circulation so they do tend to over-heat. Taking out the glass and using some kind of mesh sounds like a good compromise. I would also use some wood or cardboard around the bottom so your tort can't see out. Hope this helps. Best of luck. ;)
