Here's a few pics of Norman that capture his character. I love how inquisitive torts really are..... Note the pic of him digging in the grass to look for the tasty clover in the grass!!!

I love the way he stretches his back legs out when he is bathing or under the heat lamp too! :D

According to his certificate he's a common old Western Hermann's tortoise.... Testudo hermanni hermanni.

He's had a move around in his tortie table today.... look at his little face looking at everything! lol

He's had some chopped weeds with soaked pre-alpin today. Looks like he's trying to stop me pinching it back off him!

Ooooh only just seen the pictures you added Kelly! :)

He certainly seems a laid back tort. One of mine absolutely hates anything being moved or changed in her enclosure, she goes rigid and is unable to sleep with worry!! Even a small soil change is enough to upset her, I have to do it over a couple of days and actually move her on to the old bit while she adjusts... she's no trouble!

There's certainly seems to nothing that bothers him.

When I first brought him home I got told he may go a bit quiet and go off his food with the change in environment, but he settled straight away, investigated and ate within a few minutes! He 's had loads of changes to adapt to and he's just taken it all in his stride so far. He loves his bath and has eaten everything I've offered him from his nice healthy weed only diet. I think he's going to be a real character when he's older. I bet he'll rule the roost and bully my cats! :D He shows no fear of them, that's for sure!!!

I hope he likes his outdoor enclosure in the spring too.... it's nearly finished..... just got a few finishing touches to add and then the landscaping and planting begins once the risk of frost is over. Last year I got him in September so he only had access to an enclosed run, half on the grass, half on the patio, with supervised jaunts round the rest garden to explore!

Hi Kelly,
Norman doesn't look like a western hermanni hermanni to me.
Sometimes the wrong description can appear on a torts certificate.
I think this may be the case with Norman.
If you could post some pics of his shell underside, Bruce could positively ID him for you.
Hope this helps.
Kind Regards
Freddy
