Hi Folks
I have a sick Tortoise and would be grateful of any advice.
The Tortoise that I have had for 37 years has sudden become very lifeless, he won’t move, eat or drink. He has very little resistance in his back legs and just sits still with his eyes shut. If you tap his back legs they just swing from side to side. I have phoned the vets today and they can’t see him until Monday which is almost four days away, I’m worried he won’t make it till then. Does anyone know of any good reptile vets in Nottingham area?
I noticed last week that he was a little slow on his feet but put it down to the cool weather.

Thanks
Red

Try Craig Hunt at Chine House in Sileby, Loughborough, which isn't too far from you. x

Ashfield House Veterinary Hospital

This one is recommended on the tortoise trust vets list although in a later post it says he was leaving, the practise might be worth a ring for info?

Hi Folks
I got him into the Vets and he said it looks like it could be his Kidneys, he’s on critical care formula and I have to take him back on Monday. He seems a little better today so HOPE he is picking up and is going to be ok.

Hi Folks
The old chap seems a little bit better today, both of his eyes are now open and he has had a very small walk. I have to feed him the critical through a tube four times a day which I don’t really like doing but if it helps it’s not a problem.
Taking him back to the Vets tomorrow and hope I get the thumbs up.

Hi Folks
Sorry to report that I lost the little chap on Friday night, I’m devastated after 37 years caring for him it’s all over. I did everything that the vet told me to. He told me to bath him twice daily and to give him 10ml of critical care formula four times a day which I did despite worrying that I was hurting the poor fella.
It was a real rollercoaster week one minute he was looking better and starting to walk a little and he even started to eat a little then the next day he was more dormant.
He leaves a Daughter behind and three mates who I’m sure will miss him.
Thanks for all the support you gave me over the past week.

Thanks again
Red
