hi guys, been looking through the forum and notice some people use a fridge to hybernate their tortoise, how does that work bearing in mind they are airtight?

Hi Harry,
The fridge is opened for a few minutes each day during the hibernation period to allow air to circulate inside. Hope this helps. ;)

thanks Freddy, is tortoise put in a box and well packed and in the centre of the fridge?

Hi Harry,
This would be OK. A tortoises breathing slows down greatly during hibernation and they don't require as much air. Some people put holes in the hibernation box just in case! ;)

hi harry ive used a fridge the last couple of years to hibernate my torts,works really well i put the tort in a box with air holes in the lid and into the fridge i also fill bottles of water to place inside helps keep temp right :)

also harry make sure if you buy a fridge it does,nt have the small ice box at the top :)
