Not read it myself but Lance Jepson is an excellent tortoise vet. I'd be interested to see his views on actually keeping torts. Very often vet advise re husbandry is quite a long way from long term keepers ideas ;)

This will teach me patience and not to get ahead of myself.  i just wish I had discovered this section before I jumped onto Amazon!

were ordered as an introduction as I have no books whatsoever.  In fairness, only cost a couple of quid as I had a £10 Amazon voucher from my Amazon credit card sitting doing nothing.

 

On another note, does anyone know or recommend the Turtles & Tortoises Guide for Dummies? - I have used a few Dummies Guides in the past (The Mac For Beginners is excellent) but just wondering if it is more US-orientated as a lot of the DG's are not UK-relevant.

That book I got was pretty good and has lots of good basic info.
