we think our tortoise (picture attached) is a girl but can anybody help out? They say males have a concave bottom shell to "fit" with the female, kind of like a stack of bowls in the pantry. Posted Image but the "V" shape of the shell around the tail is very open for a female.

:welcomeSign: Amanda, you have a lovely looking tortoise there, :) can you tell us how old it is and what size? That will help.

Hi Amanda,
I am not familiar with this species of tortoise but I think it is a Redfoot. I would hazard a guess and say it is a female. :)
Here is a link you may find useful

Hope this helps. Best of luck ;)
Kind Regards
Freddy :D
