Hi all,
My question is this.. My plan was to start wind down in a week or so and a few days ago one of my females, Mavis laid a couple of eggs..first time eggs for me ( and Mavis come to that) I'm very excited about the eggs but now I'm wondering if it is safe to hibernate Mavis..
Thanks and I look forward to your advise
Suzi x

I'd take her to the vet and get her x-rayed just see if she has any more eggs..... if she has the all clear.... then I'd say she's be good to go. x

Hi Suzi,
It would be best to take her to a specialist vet for an x- ray and a check-up. She is probably a little low in calcium and vitamins at the moment after her egg laying and will need some building up. The vet will be able to advise you whether or not to hibernate her.
Hope this helps. Take care.
Kind Regards
Freddy

Thanks guys...Mavis will be staying awake and sharing her overwintering time with my very Flat MBD Bott rescue who doesn't hibernate due to her reduced lung capacity...eggs are in the incubator and I've got my fingers crossed for them ...:)
