Unfortunately my hermann's hatchling, Cocoa, passed away 2 days ago after being ill for a few weeks. Very sad! She received the best care by a reptile veterinarian but I wonder if there were other issues I couldn't overcome. In hindsight, her shell (despite relatively good diet, weekly calcium supplementation, and UV light exposure) was always a little soft and never firmed up. Not sure if I did something wrong, if she was a poor doer, or the result of poor breeding. Anway, I will do lots more research before I consider another hermann's to make sure I'm doing the right things.

hi tarah im so sorry to hear about cocoa.

dont blame yourself this hatchling was very young when it first came to you, most breeders keep their hatchlings till their 3/6 months old just to make sure their healthy, and thriving before they go to new homes

cocoa could have had a underlying problem from the start and just did,nt thrive.

when your ready to look into tortoises again were all here to help in any way we can.

take care. :)

Sorry to hear about Cocoa.

Looking after hatchlings can be difficult and they do need specialist care. I'm sure you did all that you could for her. x
