Unless she is full grown, only use a baby toothbrush as the area that is growing between the scutes is sensitive and will bruise if scrubbed with a hard bristle, allowing more germs to enter. Only lift areas that are not fixed down if that makes sense. Don't lift and peel as that will remove live shell. If it will not come away easily, then make sure you clean below it with the solution and you can clip away the dead, lifted area if it makes it easier. Do this after it's dried, not while in the water. Let it dry naturally.

Well shes 12 now and has a plastron length of 165mm so im guessing shes not far off full grown but i will buy a baby toothbrush to be safe anyway.ok thanks again wizzasmum,great help!has put my mind at ease with the task ahead!

It will be fine Matt, it's just remembering to keep up the good work after it all looks fine, for a few weeks. I'm useless at remembering myself.
