Hi,

Just thought I would share some photos of herbies enclosue. I have added a few more gradients to enable burrowing and added the carex grasses. I know some people find their tortoises don't like having their enclosure changed and go quiet but herbie has been trundling around investigating everything - he will stop then spot something and off he goes to check it out(both visually and by trying to eat it!!) Any suggestions for improvement/recommendations gratefully received. By the way it can be difficult to make out but he is in a 4' x 2' indoor rabbit enclosure.

Picture 1 : A view from above

Picture2 ; Herbies view!

Picture 3 ; Proud of his home!!

Picture 4 : Exhausted after exploring and basking and eating (what a life)!!

It's looking good Vikki. He will do a bit of rearranging as he gets used to it. When given a new home they tend to either hide away or tear about. Both are mini stress responses, so he will settle soon. Keep the substrate watered while he is still a bit gritty especially. Lucky tort, you could almost call him a rescue lol the only thing I would add is something to climb on like a rock pile or similar.

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback. The bit he is sat on in picture 4 is quite a pile of pebbles with slate shelf areas, I have in filled some of it with soil as it is quite steep and didn't want him getting a leg stuck. I watered it today when changed it all so is very damp now with the top drying out under the lamp. He soon settled down once he had investigated everything - as you can see from pic 5!!

Hi Vikki,

Do you have a link to the indoor rabbit enclosure you're using?
