Hi,

Herbie has not passed any signs of urates for 10 days or more. As you may remember he passed several large stones not long after I had him and then had quite gritty urates for a bit but he isn't passing any at all now. He is definitely passing urine as his favourite habit is to wee on my hand when I am getting his bath ready (I could swear he hears the water running and decides to have a pee!!) He is bathed daily. Should I be worried about the lack of urates for this length of time?

Vikki.

Hi Vicki,

Probably nothing to worry about here. If your tortoise is very well hydrated his wee will be clear and you will not see urates.

Just keep up the soaks. Given his history, he needs to be given the chance to pass anything nasty ;)
