Hi, I've grown marigolds in my garden all summer and have suddenly just thought, can I feed the flowers and/or leaves to my tortoise? They are still flowering abundantly. Thanks for any advice given.

Hi,

It really depends on what type of Marigold they are, as there's different types, the French Marigold can't be fed but the pot Marigold can, this is the one that's edible. :)

Mine don't go near them unfortunately, which is a shame as I have loads. They can be picky at times. I've even tried picking them and adding them to other weeds, but they find them and pick them out, little horrors. You might be lucky though ;)  You cant feed African marigolds either :(

I have fed Calendula flowers to my three month old Hermanni Hermanni and they do enjoy having a nibble. I have read that Calendula are tortoise friendly plants.
