Hi

I have 3 Hermanns eggs incubating, the first one is now 73 days into incubation and the remainder are just a couple of days after this each.  How long would anyone suggest I wait to see if any hatch before I open them?  Two of them look like they have dark yellow yolk inside and nothing else and the remaining one has dark spots inside but nothing else to see?

Mine take approx 56 days. What temps and humidity are you using?

If fertile I would expect your eggs to look like this (1st photo).
The white area is the membrane pulling down.
A couple of days later you should see egg pipping (2nd photo).
But as Sue says it depends on your temps.
I try not to candle my eggs anymore as you can introduce problems.

I don't candle any more as it can cause the embryo to fail. It can startle the baby tortoise. If it's going to hatch it will :)
