Just wanted to share this picture with you all. Hank is very fond of pansies. So much that he has taken to carrying them round in his mouth like a dog with a bone lol. 😀

Lol, when we were in Ecuador
the big torts would have great clumps of busy lizzies hanging from their mouths, enough to feed my lot for days. It was spring and they didn't seem to know when to stop eating :)

Ooh I will get him some busy lizzies to try. He seems to like the water spray too, he practically runs over to it and stands underneath. He does have fresh water in a bowl, I'm not sure whether he is just enjoying a little shower lol

They are actually listed as toxic Jenny on a well known ID website, but torts seem to think differently and Steve from the Ranch says they ate them in great quantities every spring. Mine devoured a whole border of them too before I knew any different and never had any ill effects. I wouldn't advise to feed them deliberately, but they obviously don't harm them. If he loves water, he may thank you for damper substrate ;)

Oh ok maybe I won't feed him lizzies then lol 😂😂
I think he likes the water because he has always been on sawdust so the wet soil and the showers must be really refreshing.

Hi Jenny,

There's loads of other flowers that can be fed like Dandelion flowers, rose petals, Snapdragon, Hollyhock, Hibiscus, Evening primrose, Mallow, Lavatera just to name a few. :)
