Hi there

Quick question - i was curious to check fridges where the temps can be exactly set-up and controlled electronically, be precise and uniform inside a fridge (on top and bottom inside). I found laboratory fridges. They are uber pricey though. Do you guys have an opinion on them or have used one?

Thank you

About £600 for one tall like an undercounter fridge. £900 for one 150cm tall. £1200 for the tallest.

Basically 4-5 times more than common brand domestic fridges.

To be honest, that’s not as bad as I thought, given the prices charged for what look like normal appliances in schools, hospitals etc. I suppose it depends also on how many torts would be using it too. I’m doing something this year I thought I’d never be doing, when I put tracking devices on a couple of my naughtiest tortoises lol

Hi, Sabina,

I bought one for Harry a couple of years ago, it's excellent; keeps the temps exactly right.

Here's a pic of it:

This is the smallest one they do, and is suitable for one tortoise only, or two babies.

The make is Lec, and they do a wide range in sizes and prices.

Here's link to their website; click on the ones you are interested in, and it will give you all the specifications, and a list of distributors.

Hope this helps.

Graham

Hi, Sue; yes, Harry’s busy zedding away in the fridge. He’s due out four weeks tomorrow; I can’t wait to have him back, I miss him terrible during the winter months.
Hoping all of yours are doing well x

Yes all doing well Graham, they will be out in a couple of weeks as they went in early this time. I’ve got babies up and about though, so never a dull moment here x
