Hmm, I still think vets are too readily assuming this, as true hermaphrodites are very rare and the increase in numbers of tortoises diagnosed with this condition, seems to be staggering, offering by the same vets, plus it is interesting to see that all of the ones mentioned seem to have had a bad start in life. Obviously not a vet, but in agreement with many breeders, it seems that none of these animals have been scanned for the presence of both ovarian and male testes being present.

 

Can i ask how you know shes not been scanned ????

I have one like urs. Also has male and females bits. She's out of shape to due to previous owners. Makes them more special I think. Good luck with her :-D

the lamp in the shed is on all day, unless its really warm. They normally come out for a while then go back in for a warm. Then back out.
