Brown Wee?

13 June 2013 - 06:57 PM

Hi all,  Little Elvis's wee is now brown instead of the normal clear fluid, first noticed a week ago.

He is now on an all weed diet and is eating and drinking ok, looks fine and is active as normal.

Have done some searches but all I can find is that eating loads of dandelions can cause a reddish brown colour. He hasn't had hardly any for the last 3 weeks though so surely it can't be that?

He has been in his outside enclosure a lot when it's been sunny - could the soil be anything to do with it? Any advice much appreciated.

Little Elvis Has Left The Building!

03 June 2013 - 03:54 PM

Hi All

Yes after 4 days of refusing to come out of his sleeping hut little Elvis has finally ventured into the great outdoors!!

Enclosure now complete and heating all sorted so hopefully will gain confidence by the day.

Thank you to all you lovely people for providing re-assurance that he would eventually adapt.

Have had a very stressful weekend worrying about the little dude but your advice and kind words definitely helped.

Getting Worried Now!

02 June 2013 - 09:45 AM

Hi again

Well little Elvis finally moved into his outdoor enclosure on Friday.

He had no trouble finding his sleeping hut but has hardly left it since.

I've taken him out every day to put him by his food which he has eaten but not quite as enthusiastically as normal. I've put him on weeds only now where he always had florette mix before. As soon as he's eaten he goes straight back to his hut and buries himself!!

He was running around like a nutter the first time we put him in his enclosure before it was finished but doesn't seem interested at all now it's fully landscaped.

Is this behaviour normal?  We go away next weekend and a i am getting so worried about leaving him!

Advice Needed Please

26 May 2013 - 04:55 PM

Hiya, We bought little Elvis from a petshop in October and like a lot of others failed to do the research first unfortunately! He was hatched in 2010 and came from Macedonia, despite the petshop insisting he was UK bred. However we are now doing all we can to put things right such as the viv we were sold etc. We have just completed his outdoor enclosure and could do with some advice please. Apologies in advance for the number of questions lol!

Is he old enough to stay out overnight in his enclosure? It is very secure and he will have a sleeping hut with a tube heater in but am concerned he may be too young? We only finished the basic set up yesterday and still have to finish his box and get some planting in but so far he seems to love being out there. Is there anything we need to change in what we have done so far? I plan to put  couple of dwarf Hebe's in but not going to plant any weeds in there as he is a greedy little one and will eat everything put in front of him so they wouldn't last 5 minutes.

Thankyou in advance for any advice you can offer, have found this site invaluable for hints and tips and really helped when planning his enclosure.
