Scale Problems

05 April 2016 - 05:52 PM

Hi all, having a bit of trouble with Vera :/ a week ago I went to check on her and noticed a scale on her head was missing and there was a little blood, I changed her onto repticarpet to prevent infection and cleaned with water, it was healing nicely until yesterday when the same happened to the next scale along, I noticed she was climbing and falling off of a log roll I got her recently so have removed it just in case,
Is this likely physical damage or could it possibly be a disease :(
I've also noticed for a while a part of her shell just above her head sticks out a little so I'm thinking after she caught her scale on something maybe the next one got caught on her shell. I've attached some images
Cheers everyone (you can see on the photo the small yellowish piece of shell that sticks out)

Rabbit Hutch/enclosure Things

09 February 2016 - 11:32 PM

Talking for Brian the horse field here :) I was just wondering, I need to upgrade his table and still in the process of doing the outside enclosure which is taking a while. I was thinking, it's a lot cheaper. Would it be better to get him an outdoor rabbit run/house temporarily until the outdoor enclosure is finished. How would you heat something like that ? I'll attach some photos of stuff I've found. If not I'll just make him another table myself :)

Chipped Beak

09 February 2016 - 11:22 PM

Hello :) I've noticed that Vera's got a small chip on her beak and wondering whether this is normal or a concern? She's eating normally etc. I'll try and find a photo that shows it (you can see if you zoom right in on the left centre.) oh and the red and green in part of a florette salad bag :D

Vera's Awake 😊

30 January 2016 - 06:39 PM

So Vera's first ever hibernation is finished and she's perfectly fine *touch wood*
I woke her up gradually, she had a long soak and is currently chowing down on some lambs lettuce (I think it's safe to assume she's hungry)! We almost managed 12 weeks but woke her up a week early because the temps are fluctuating so much at the minute (so 11 weeks ) 😀 Very pleased she's back!!!

Until it warms up she's going to be in her indoor table. She's not going to be best pleased I imagine 😂

How Is She Doing?

13 December 2015 - 10:47 PM

Hi all, Vera went into hibernation 5 weeks ago using the box methods and her weekly weight measurements are as follows
Week 1 - 1222g
Week 2 - 1217g
Week 3 - 1217g
Week 4 - 1217g
Week 5 - 1218g

Is it normal for them to gain weight? If only a gram. Is hibernating when there fully asleep because when I pick her up to check her she's asleep but will wake up without moving (she's always slept out of the shell). The temps in the box are staying between 5-11 degrees c on a couple of warm days. Am i doing okay?
Also how long can she go for, this is her first hibernation. Thank you everyone 😊
