Hi everyone, i am a bit worried about Hank. He hasnt gone into hibernation because the fridge he was going into has been temperamental and my daughter went into hospital so we didnt have a stable routine leading up to it to be able to plan properly. We have kept him up and continued with heating and feeding. This last week he has not been eating and has been trying to sleep all the time under his flower pot.
I have bathed him and he has walked about a bit but just gone back to his corner after a while.
He doesnt have any puffy eyes or abnormalities with his mouth, skin or shell. I am just wondering if he is desperate to hibernate? He hasnt hibernated before though.

Hank Is A Bit Off?
12 September 2016 - 06:26 AM
Hi everyone, I'm a bit worried about Hank. He isn't eating very much and he seems to be sleepy, he keeps going to bed under his plantpot in the middle of the day / late afternoon.
Temps are OK and he is being offered plants and weeds to eat as well. Is he just being lazy? Preparing for hibernation (he has never hibernated) or is he not well?

Hi everyone, in the outdoor house (cave area) what should the maximum temperature? The frost heater is on it there but I'm only reaching temps of 14 at its highest. I haven't moved Hank in because I thought it was too cold. Do I need a bigger watt frost heater to put out more heat?
Any Ideas?

Hi can someone tell me if this weed is safe for Hank to eat. I can't seem to find it on tortoise table or in my book.
Males Together
28 July 2016 - 05:56 PM
Hi everyone
Is it a big no to have two male Hermann torts together? A girl I work with is going to Australia for a couple of years and has asked what I think about taking on her tortoise with Hank. He is a male hermann so I'm a bit reluctant. Everything I have read says they will probably fight?
Just wanted your advise if you don't mind?
